Booking in Fees/Payments
Booking in Fees are non-refundable, and required to confirm your order and hold the date. Please be aware that until your booking in fee is paid, the date is still available to other customers. By paying this fee, you confirm that you agree to the terms and conditions detailed on this page. The remaining balance is due 2 weeks before the collection/delivery date, at which point all design changes must be confirmed (changes to the previously agreed design may incur extra fees). Orders placed less than 2 weeks in advance of the collection/delivery date must be paid in full. Payment can be made earlier if you wish. Failure to complete payment 2 weeks before the collection/delivery date may result in your order being cancelled.
Delivery
Delivery is charged at 50p per mile, plus my time, for the return journey.
Allergy Disclaimer
I bake in my family kitchen, and whilst every effort will be taken to ensure that your cake contains only the ingredients listed on your 'Ingredients List' (provided at collection/delivery), I cannot guarantee that any of my products will be completely free of ingredients that may affect those with an allergy. We are not a nut free home.
Valkyrie Cakes has completed the Food Standards Agency (FSA) Allergy Training and fully understands the seriousness of food allergies. I strongly recommend that you contact me before you place your order to inform me of any food allergies that you, or your party may have. I reserve the right to decline any orders for customers with serious food allergies. Valkyrie Cakes will not assume any liability for adverse reactions to my products.
Please note that some food colourings may have an adverse effect on activity and attention in children.
Cancellations
Preparations for custom cakes can start weeks in advance of your collection/delivery date. As a result, you must provide Valkyrie Cakes as much notice as possible if you need to cancel your order. At the discretion of Valkyrie Cakes, any payments already made, minus the cost of materials purchased in advance for this order, may be used as credit towards a future purchase. Booking in fees are non-transferable on cancellations made within 1 week of collection/delivery date. Any monies paid (minus booking in fee) will be returned if cancellations are made more than 1 month before collection/delivery due date.
Cancellation by Valkyrie Cakes
In the event of exceptional circumstances, such as serious illness, I will give as much notice as possible if I am unable to fulfil your order. I will endeavour to find someone else who can produce your order and will refund you any monies already paid including your booking in fee.
Complaints
I put an incredible amount of care and effort into all of my cakes, and aim to provide a personable and professional service. As a result, I am yet to receive a complaint against my business or my products. However, should you feel dissatisfied with your order, you should contact Valkyrie Cakes at your most earliest convenience.
A 'Cake Care Information Sheet' will be supplied with your goods, in advance by email, and verbal instructions will also be given at handover.
All cakes require a signature on collection/delivery – this indicates that you are happy with the product received, and agree to care for the product as per the 'Cake Care Information Sheet' provided. Valkyrie Cakes is not liable for any loss or damages to the cake, after this exchange.
If you are not happy, please ensure you make this known when accepting your order. This gives me the opportunity to correct any problems. I am not responsible for mistakes made by the customer – i.e. incorrect/misspelled names or incorrect choices of cake/flavours. I keep samples of my products for a reasonable time. In addition, I always photograph my products prior to collection and after delivery.
Some complaints require further investigation, and as such, cakes/cupcakes should be returned to Valkyrie Cakes within 24 hours to ensure I am able to fairly assess the nature of the complaint. The cake/cupcakes must have been cared for as per the 'Cake Care Information Sheet'. Refunds will not be given on any product returned with more than 25% consumed.
Photography
I take photographs of all my products. Valkyrie Cakes reserves the right to use these images on social media and other marketing materials without compensation to the customer.
