Booking in Fees/Payments
Booking in Fees are non-refundable, and required to confirm your order and hold the date. Please be aware that until your booking in fee is paid, the date is still available to other customers. By paying this fee, you confirm that you agree to the terms and conditions detailed on this page. The remaining balance is due 4 weeks before the delivery date, at which point all design changes must be confirmed (changes to the previously agreed design may incur extra fees). Orders placed less than 4 weeks in advance of the collection/delivery date must be paid in full. Payment can be made earlier if you wish. Failure to complete payment 4 weeks before the delivery date may result in your order being cancelled.
Delivery is charged at 50p per mile, plus my time, for the return journey.
I bake in my family kitchen, and whilst every effort will be taken to ensure that your cake contains only the ingredients listed on your 'Ingredients List' (provided at collection/delivery), I cannot guarantee that any of my products will be completely free of ingredients that may affect those with an allergy. We are not a nut free home.
Valkyrie Cakes has completed the Food Standards Agency (FSA) Allergy Training and fully understands the seriousness of food allergies. I strongly recommend that you contact me before you place your order to inform me of any food allergies that you, or your party may have. I reserve the right to decline any orders for customers with serious food allergies. Valkyrie Cakes will not assume any liability for adverse reactions to my products.
Please note that some food colourings may have an adverse effect on activity and attention in children.
The customer is responsible for booking all fresh or dried flowers/foliage. Please note that some flowers/foliage are toxic and should be avoided – your florist should be able to advise which are safe to be placed on consumable items. I cannot be held responsible for suitability, quality or quantity of flowers provided by your florist. Sugar flowers, provided by myself, are non edible and will contain wiring for support. Please remove these before serving the cake.
After Care for your Cake
Once I have delivered and set up your cake, I will take a photo and video of the cake in situ. I recommend that the cake is not moved from this position. I cannot take any responsibility for any damages to the cake once I have left the venue, where the cake has been moved, or placed in an unsuitable position.
Note – if the cake is to be set up in a marquee, a hot room, by a radiator, or in front of a window with direct sunlight, I will suggest another location for the cake to be placed. I cannot be held responsible for any heat damage to the cake. I advise that cakes are kept in a cool room and out of direct sunlight.
Preparations for custom cakes can start weeks in advance of your collection/delivery date. As a result, you must provide Valkyrie Cakes as much notice as possible if you need to cancel or postpone your order. Once your cake is booked, you the customer, are responsible for the cake cost. I advise taking out wedding insurance in the event that anything changes and you need to cancel/postpone your order. At the discretion of Valkyrie Cakes, any payments already made, minus the cost of materials purchased/work completed in advance for this order, may be used as credit towards a future purchase where the cancellation/postponement is made more than 4 weeks before the wedding. Booking in fees and payments made are non-transferable on cancellations made within 4 weeks of collection/delivery date.
Any monies paid (minus booking in fee) will be returned if cancellations are made more than 3 months before collection/delivery due date. Cancellations made within 2-3 months of the wedding date will incur a cancellation fee of 50% of your invoice. Cancellations made within 4 weeks of the wedding date will be invoiced in full.
I take photographs of all my products. Valkyrie Cakes reserves the right to use these images on social media and other marketing materials without compensation to the customer.
